Suwon

Well yesterday we went to Suwon Fortress. Suwon was where Josiah was born and it was one of our stops so we made sure to see something special in the city. We decided to walk the fortress walls and I sure wished that we had know how far it was before we decided to do that! Mom says she was a trouper and kept me going! Double ha ha! 5.7Km later, don't know how far that is in miles but know my legs are killing me. Might I also add that it was at least in the 90's and 100% humidity!! After we were done we got a cab ride back which apparently not many people know their own city because it took us 3 tries before a driver agreed to take us back to our hotel. When we got back we had to try to pack up with no lights because they decided not to work on us, which also meant no air. Finally after not being able to find all our things we had to call the front desk to help which I felt pretty stupid about because we were late checking out. Finally we were able to check out and the lovely front desk girl who was so helpful found us a cab to the train station where we caught a 4 hour train ride to Gwangju. We didn't have a hotel booked so we were totally chancing it. After we arrived in Gwangju we asked a taxi driver where a hotel we found in our guide book was and how much it was to get there. The hotels name was the Korean Hotel and the taxi driver seemed familiar with it and after much gesturing he made known to us that we could walk to it. So confidant in our knowledge we proceeded to walk to the Korean Hotel. Well we seemed to walk and walk and the area was looking a little seedy but we noticed like 3 or 4 hotels lumped in the same area, when who do you know showed up, our taxi driver we talked to! He was laughing and pointing and showed us where 100 feet in front of us was a hotel called the K hotel. So we went in and asked about price and to be shown a room. The room seemed decent and the price was great so we said sure lets take it. We didn't notice until we were unpacking the risque pictures on the wall and the tray of "special" goodies on the desk, and later we noticed in the hall a certain selection of videos! We were in what locals refer to a "love motel"!!!! We had read about them in the guide book but certainly didn't expect to really end up in one! I have to say other than the obvious I would recommend one, they were super clean, cheap and pretty nice. The front desk people were also very helpful.
So now it is Monday and we woke up bright and early and made it to the airport to catch a flight to Jeju island. Forty minutes later and here we are, it is pretty but very windy and rainy but yet humid. We haven't done much but go shopping downtown and didn't really find anything but tomorrow we have a full day planned. So until tomorrow, Mom B. and Jess
